There’s nothing worse than feeling like you’ve put your all into some work and getting nothing out of it. It can decrease your motivation for the future and seriously demoralise you. Try and make a fuss of your staff when they do something good, make sure they know that you appreciate the effort they’ve put in. This should get them going for the next task.
Naturally there’s a fine line between having fun at work and being unproductive, but there’s definite ways to combine work and fun to make things a little more enjoyable. For example, like gamifying task throughout the week. It could be anything from who answers the most live chats to who makes the most sales. If you’re feeling generous, attaching an award to the winner at the end of the week is sure to keep them going all week.
Employees are at their best when they feel like they’re valued. Be open about what’s going on at the top level of the business and give staff the opportunity to share their own ideas. People are always going to want to deliver good results if they feel like they’re truly valued and invested in something.
Giving your staff the opportunity to be flexible with how and where they work is another great way to keep them motivated and keep productivity high. Mixing it up with an out of office meeting and working from home always increases my productivity and I’m sure will be the same for many of your staff.
You wouldn’t try the same methods to entice different customers, so why use the same methods to motivate your staff? Learn what makes your employees tick and work out ways to embed this into your motivation techniques. It might be a combination of things, but it will be worth it to get the best out of them.
