Pancreatic Cancer UK has been chosen as IPRS Group’s charity of the year for 2023 with colleagues from across the group committed to fundraising as much as possible throughout the year.
Every year, we ask our colleagues which charity they would like us to represent which always presents us with a very difficult decision.
Pancreatic Cancer UK is one of the UK’s leading Pancreatic Cancer Charities who want to no less than to transform the future for everyone with pancreatic cancer. Their vision is that everyone with pancreatic cancer survives to live long and well.
Pancreatic Cancer is a cancer with a low survival rate of only approximately 5% but is the 10th most common cancer in the UK. Not only that, but according to statistics on the cancer research website, 37% could be preventable.
When compared to some of the other cancer charities, Pancreatic Cancer UK raises and receive far less which led to our decision to support them for 2023.
Ben Beckwith, who leads our fundraising within IPRS Group said. “As we always do, we invite staff to nominate for our new charity and share their reasons why. This year, Pancreatic Cancer was a charity we wanted to work for as the statistics do not make for good reading. With some of our colleagues knowing others who have gone through this cancer, anything we can do to engage with our colleagues while helping Pancreatic Cancer UK will be a fantastic achievement.”
Throughout the year colleagues from across the group will partake in fundraising events. In May we will be doing the national walking month, aiming for as many collective steps as we can while marking off challenges along the way. We plan to do some more endurance walking events over the summer.
